Mr. Wrestler

Cole has been wrestling for the junior high school team this year. As of December 7 he is undefeated with a 12-0 record (I think as I can't really remember). He has only given up points in one match. He has two meets left, including the city championship. What a little stud.

Brad First Varsity Basketball Game

Brad made his varsity basketball debut in the season opener. He came in with one minute left in the third quarter and was playing in the fourth quarter before taking an inadvertant elbow with three minutes left in the game. The result was 10 stitches above the eye. We will always have a reminder of his first high school basketball game.

Brad Honors

The postseason honors have started for football. Brad was named Sunflower League honorable mention and then recently was named 6A all-state honorable mention by the Topeka Capital Journal. He was one of two sophomores on the entire list (the other was a kicker).

Last week was Homecoming Week at Lawrence High School. Here is a sign that was up at the school. In addition, they said what was written on the sign on the morning announcmenets. Are you kidding me?

Lions Wins Season Opener

Brad made his debut in Lawrence High School's first game of the year on Sept. 3. Nobody can remember the last time a sophomore started at quarterback at Lawrence High School. The defense was great and the offense scored on each of its first five possessions. Here are a couple of photos from the Lawrence Journal World.

First Article Of The Year

Monday, a Lawrence High School football depth chart was released. Brad is slated to be the starting quarterback and free safety as just a sophomore. He is also supposed to return kickoffs and punts. Obviously we are pretty excited, but also very aware that a lot can happen and things change. Here is a link to the Lawrence Journal World story. Chris Gaston is the coolest kid ever and it is easy to see why Brad looks up to him so much. Chris sent Brad a text Monday night that just confirmed what a stud Chris is. The season starts Sept. 3. You can follow the team through the Lawrence Journal World and through the Lawrence High School football website.

On Thursday, June 10, native American and 1964 10,000-meter Olympic champion Billy Mills returned to Lawrence to talk at Haskell Indian Nation's University. We went to listen to him and he was great. Brad and Cole had the opportunity to get their picture taken with this legendary star.

Brad's Formal Dance

Brad had a formal dance on Monday and took his girlfriend Tiffany. We also were able to get a few photos of some of our ninth-grade neighbors, including Trey, Driskell, Shane and Chandler. Ain't they all so precious?

Recognition Day

Tuesday was the last day of school for both Brad and Cole. They both had recognitions at school as Brad is leaving South Junior High School and ninth grade for Lawrence High School next fall, while Cole is leaving Schwegler Elementary and sixth grade for South Junior High School. Both grandmas and Gus were able to attend the day's festivities.

Cole The Catcher

Tuesday Cole got to play his favorite baseball position - catcher. He did a great job stopping wild pitches, threw two runners out and went two of three batting. His team posted a win over a team, which won a big tournament the weekend before the game. Not too shabby.

Brad Shares Top Athlete Award

At the South Junior High Awards ceremony Friday, Brad shared the school's top athlete award with neighbor and teammate Shane Willoughby. It was the first time the school recognized co-winners. Adree Shield was named the top girl athlete. Brad played football, basketball and baseball and was a team captain in all three sports. Shane played all three as well, including starting on the Lawrence High School varsity team as a freshman. There are so many deserving kids for this award.
